Well, I guess it has been about two months since I started training seriously for the triathlons I’m registered for. I’ve been commuting by bike for closer to eight months, but two months ago is when I started working in swimming and running and pushing for better speed on my commutes. I mentioned in my first post that I am fat. Certainly a big reason I decided to train for triathlon was to lose weight. I’ve been overweight most of my life, and things were really starting to get out of hand. I think I topped out at just over 320 not too long before I started training.
Well, passed a nice milestone this morning in weighing in just barely under 300 pounds for the first time in at least two years. 298.8 to be exact. Triathlons have separate groups for the bigger athlete. ”Clydesdale” is the big men’s group, and “Athena” the big women’s group. The event I’m doing in October has classes for Clydesdale 185 (over 185 pounds), Clydesdale 200 and Clydesdale 235. I didn’t register Clydesdale, though. I’d rather just see where my result sits in my age group and overall.
