Day Off
Days off are starting to bug me, and I’ve had more than I’m comfortable with in the last few weeks. We’re going to see the Pet Shop Boys tonight, so I have to leave work early and couldn’t ride my bike in. I had hoped to ride my bike in this morning, but I left my alarm clock off last night and missed it. Oh well.
Tomorrow will be long ride/morning run. I took a look at the rest of the Couch to 5K program this morning, and I’m really at the end at this point. It’s two weeks of 25 minute runs, then 30 minute runs the last week. I’ll be concentrating on getting my pace up over the next few weeks, then it’s time to start mixing in longer runs. I’d really like to have run over four miles by the end of the month, shooting for my first time running the 6.6 miles I’ll have to run in Miami by mid-October.
Those of you out there who are runners, how quickly is it safe to increase your mileage? How do you know when you’re pushing too hard? I certainly don’t think I’m there yet, but I’m still pretty heavy and very worried about hurting myself this close to my events.
